About Zsófia

Faro

I was born in Hungary and graduated from the University of Pécs (PTE) as a biologist/hydrobiologist. I am just about to complete my doctoral studies at the Institute of Biology at the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). My PhD research focuses on the anthropogenic effects on the behaviour of wild and domesticated bumblebees, providing me with a deep involvement in pollinator ecology, including fieldwork and related fields of study. Moreover, I am also highly interested in pollinator monitoring and conservation and use cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools for my research.

ABOUT MY PAGE

This website offers a comprehensive view of my professional background, including my curriculum, ongoing research projects, and publications. Alongside my professional work, I am deeply committed to environmental education and sharing knowledge about insects, particularly insect pollinators. This interest inspired me to create this site, where I keep a blog and use my own scientific illustrations of insects to bring science closer to non-scientists. In the blog, I share my observations, thoughts and the latest insights I come across, in a personal tone. I also provide recommendations for books, websites, and other resources for those interested in learning more.

Most of the content is available in both English and Hungarian, as I wish to make knowledge about insect conservation, pollination ecology, pollinator-friendly gardening, citizen science, and related topics more accessible, especially in my native language.
